Caylyn returns for her sophomore campaign as a Sun Devil after a 2007 season which saw her as a serious offensive threat at any time. CJ finished the season with a .277 batting average with 23 runs scored and 30 driven in along with seven homeruns, higher than any other freshman on the team. While her .480 slugging percentage proved she was a threat at the plate her .363 on-base percentage and six stolen bases also proved she was a threat on the base paths as well. A solid glove on the field as well, Caylyn shared duties at first base where she compiled a .964 fielding percentage.
An in-state product, CJ captained the Corona del Sol softball team her junior and senior years and helped lead her club team, the Hotshots to a second place finish at Nationals. While at Corona del Sol, Carlson was named a Tempe All-City 2nd baseman her sophomore year, a Tempe All-City Shortstop her junior and senior years and the Tribune Player of the Year her senior year.
Carlson hails from Chandler, Ariz. where she was born on March 21, 1988 and is the only child of Ren and Marsha (Dental Hygienist) Carlson, and while currently an exploratory major, is contemplating pursuing a career in speech therapy.
