April 27, 2008

OJAI, Calif. - The ASU Women's Tennis Team wrapped their stay at the 108th annual Pac-10 Championships Sunday morning as the final Devil standing, Wendy Pilecka, fell in the Invitational Bracket Championship to fourth-seeded Alex McGoodwin of UCLA. The day brought the close of the 2008 regular season where the Sun Devils will now await to see who they'll set to face in the NCAA Tournament.

Pilecka and McGoodwin kicked-off the events of the day as they hit the courts at 8 a.m. for their championship match-up. Pilecka came out blazing in the first set, battling back-and-forth for the lead with McGoodwin where she finally fell in the first set in a brutal 7-6(7) tiebreak loss.

The second set was no match for Pilecka as McGoodwin kicked into high-gear and cruised to a 6-1 win and a Pac-10 Invitational Bracket Championship title.

With that, the ASU Women's Tennis regular season comes to a close where they will now await to find out who they'll be slated against in the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is set to air between 11-11:30 a.m. PT on ESPNews.
